Colonial Revival

We began working with our clients many years ago when their children were young and have continued over the years to update their beloved home room by room.  Our first project together was to design their daughter’s bedrooms, a few years later we were hired to redesigned the family and living rooms, followed by a gut and redesign of the kitchen, laundry and powder room.  Last year we updated the 2nd floor bathroom and are currently finishing up the redesign of their primary suite, kitchen expansion and outdoor living space which included an exterior facelift to the home.

A thoughtful evolution of a classic home

This Colonial Revival project is a layered story of a home that has grown with a family over time. Rather than a one-off renovation, it reflects a longstanding collaboration: from the earliest bedrooms to today’s full kitchen expansion, primary suite redesign, and refreshed outdoor living spaces. Each phase honors the home’s architectural roots while gently evolving it for modern life, balancing details with smart, livable design.

Preserving heritage, Enhancing function

Colonial Revival homes are celebrated for their symmetry, rich millwork, and gracious proportions; elements that lend themselves beautifully to thoughtful updates. Traditional features such as balanced room layouts and classic wood details are paired with todays comforts and streamline finishes to support everyday living without losing the style’s inherent charm.

Designing for Timeless Comfort

Throughout this project, every room was considered through the lens of how the family actually uses the space — from gathering spots like the kitchen and living areas to the serene retreats of bedroom and bathroom spaces. Materials were chosen for their lasting quality and emotional warmth, marrying classic elements like hardwood flooring and refined millwork with new layouts that improve flow and function.

Crafting a Home That Feels Complete

This home isn’t just updated — it feels whole. The blend of traditional Colonial Revival characteristics and contemporary design touches creates a seamless transition between old and new. The result is a residence that feels grounded in history, but decidedly tuned to the needs of modern family life.
